Borgomaro, is comprehensive of almost the entire basin of the stream Maro, territory rich of water and sources, also sulphurous, scattered with many crushers and oil mills. Excellent is the local cooking, rustic and with intense flavors: to be savored the bread of Aurigo, made according to the old local craftsman traditions and the beans of Conio, that are among the best of the Riviera di Ponente. The alpine village holds a suggestive parish church that preserves in its apse remains of the medieval structure. From Conio many enchanting panoramic itineraries lead to the passes of Colla d'Oggia and San Bernardo, that connect the Arroscia valley to the Argentina valley. Candeasco, Maro Castello, Ville San Sebastiano and the parish church of Santi Nazario e Celso at Borgomaro surrounded by olive groves and deciduous brushwood, are ancient evidences of a glorious past, rich of artistic and monumental valuable remains. |
